Look at us!
The celebration of this crew started on a whim. A local film highlighted the people and places of Florence, AL, where I live. I was one of several people of color in the film, which puzzled me. We have many cultures here, and the film tagged “There’s something for everyone.” I felt that we needed a fresh eye to capture the vision of our diversity.
I called it kaleidovision — seeing and experiencing the richness of our differences. I contacted my ‘village’ from all over the globe who live this way, and asked if they would write for a magazine centering on this kind of inclusion. With much enthusiasm, they accepted my invitation. (Some, I have never met in person!) Our mission was clear:
The mission of Garden Spices Magazine is to explore and celebrate differences through the lens of people of various ethnicity, beliefs, genders, physical and mental abilities in hopes of finding the core of understanding and realization that we are all part of a universal garden.
We’re coming with minds and hearts wide open. Our voice is now international. We come from various cultures and perspectives, and we will explore our experiences, likes, and differences, with no stone unturned. Garden Spices invites you to open the gate to a place beyond boundaries, to kaleidovision, which should resonate through the hearts of us all.
